The wish to give birth to an extremely innovative upper-segment product has distinguished, since its very start, the R14 project, the latest proposal of Fondmetal's top-range production: the RADIUS line.

The result is a very modern wheel from a style point of view, which is not just precious design, but also interesting technical innovation in terms of chrome inserts. These make the Radius R14 more slender while achieving, at the same time, a colour combination that is unique in the market of light alloy wheels.

This solution was reached by designing the spoke so that it reaches the inner part of the rim instead of touching the outer flange, thus allowing the application of chrome inserts which are really impeccable as colour style enhancement.

The particular and complex solution with inserts was made possible only thanks to the high  technology level within the Fondmetal production system, and ensures a considerable advantage from a dynamic point of view. In practice, the R14 is endowed with a series of elliptical holes in the insert application area, i.e. between the inner and the outer part of the wheel. These "invisible" openings work in fact as air intakes with beneficial effects for the elimination of hot air generated by the braking system. In a word, the Radius R14 is not only a beautiful and peculiar wheel, but is also technically advanced.

It is worth mentioning that this system of inserts ensures a sensible reduction of the overall wheel weight, while maintaining, at the same time, top level structural values, with a 1000 KNm/rad rigidity and frequencies of 600 Hz for the rim and 280 Hz at the front face. On the other hand, the inserts, which factually replace parts of the spoke in metal alloy, are made with a polymeric material having a considerably lower specific weight than aluminium. The consequent weight reduction can be estimated as approximately -10%, in a wheel where the mass optimisation is extremely high.

The range of offered sizes, with diameters from 18" to 22", clearly shows that the R14 was conceived to underline the importance of the cars to which it is fitted, while improving at the same time their driveability and performances. The larger sizes, obviously, are destined for SUVs, including bigger ones that ensure a high performance drive, both off-road and on motorways.
