When Jörg Müller (GER) takes to the grid this weekend for the FIA World Touring Car Championship, it will be his sixth appearance for BMW Team Germany in Oschersleben. The World Championship leader boasts an impressive tally: since 2002, the circuit has seen him celebrate two wins and six podium finishes in the European and World Touring Car Championships.

Mr Müller, does a home race put you under extra pressure?

Jörg Müller: "I certainly look forward to Oschersleben more than other circuits. But you have to keep the World Championship as a whole in sight - and the home races are just one of a total of 11 events. The pressure is the same for every race. The big goal of winning that World Championship title is constantly there."

Who are your toughest rivals in the battle for the title?

Müller: "Looking at the drivers' standings, that would be my team-mate Augusto Farfus and Andy Priaulx at the moment. But that doesn't really mean anything. The competition have shown that they can win races - things are looking up for Chevrolet in particular. It would be a serious mistake to write the other drivers off."

In 2007 you've already made it onto the podium seven times. How do you manage to be up there among the front-runners with such consistency?

Müller: "The consistency had already returned at the end of last year after we had made a change to the chassis. Ever since then we've had a real competitive edge. In motor sport it isn't always just down to the driver. This season the whole package has worked perfectly from the word go - as the successes clearly show."

In 1995 you entered your first race for BMW. In 2007 you are still a BMW works driver. What lies at the root of this loyalty?

Müller: "I just feel very comfortable within the BMW family and with Schnitzer Motorsport. My sweetest victory for BMW so far was in Sebring back in 1999. It was the first outing with the BMW V12 LMR Prototype - and an emotionally charged moment to match."

Also racing at Oschersleben will be Formula BMW Germany, with whom you are involved as an instructor. Will you be watching the races?

Müller: "Oh, definitely. They are all young racing drivers who have been through their schooling with us. I'm delighted for the drivers that the Formula BMW Europe series in 2008 will even allow them to race against the backdrop of Formula One. That raises BMW's junior talent promotion to yet another level."
