In very good conditions with hard and icy roads Mikkelsen become the one who stopped Mads Østberg’s winning style in Norway. Before the KNA Rally Finnskog Østbergs had nine wins in a row, but today it was stopped by the 18 year old Mikkelsen.
After the first four stages it was only 10 seconds that separates the two young Norwegian guns. But on the 5th stage Mads Østberg ad a puncture on his Subaru Impreza WRC and had to stop to change a tyre. After that Mikkelsen could cruise in to his first ever win in his home country.
Anders Grøndal was 2nd with his Subaru Impreza WRC, while Mads Østberg was able to secure 3rd. The Swedish veteran Mats Jonsson took his Ford Escort WRC to 4th.
