Rally of Portugal: Strong stage-winning finish puts Andreas Aigner in top ten!

A strong close to the Portugal Rally by Andreas Aigner (AUT)/Klaus Wicha (GER) in their Mitsubishi EVO IX gave the Red Bull Rally Team cause for satisfaction after a difficult rally.

Although the Austrian went into the final day simply aiming to perform various tests with new tyre and chassis set-ups, he managed to move up the classifications and enter the top ten. He finished the IRC run in ninth place.
Aigner completed a storming finish to post the best time of the last stage and the second best of SS11!

The second Red Bull Mitsubishi EVO XI of Bernardo Sousa (POR)/Jorge Cavalho (POR) had been pulled out of the rally earlier in the day due to a broken brake pipe.

Italian driver Luca Rossetti won the rally in a Peugeot S2000.

Andreas Aigner: “That was a really pleasing end to the rally today. I was really happy with the second round. I have to thank to the team as it was a perfect team performance once again. We were just missing a slice of fortune this time. I can now go to Greece for the next PWRC run full of confidence.”

Raimund Baumschlager: “We tried a lot of things out today and almost everything worked out. The Pirelli tyres worked really well in the second round. Above all we managed to meet our target despite everything that went on. Andreas got to know the route and posted some really good times.”
