Portuguese driver Lourenço Beirao da Veiga has been the winner of the third Seat León Eurocup meeting of the season, and thanks to the fourth place in the first race and the victory in the second, Beirao will be racing at the next meeting of the WTCC in the British Brands Hatch racetrack on July 27th. Beirao will be driving a Seat León WTCC, taking over from  Oscar Nogués and Tom Boardman, who were the first two winners of the Eurocup.

In the first race, staged yesterday, Croatian driver Marin Colak dominated from start to finish, taking the lead from pole-setter Norbert Michelisz from Hungary. The race was quite troubled, including an intervention of the safety car and an exciting fight for the third place, as well as noteworthy retirements from Nogués, Mischeliz and Carvalho.  Behind Colak, who had a comfortable drive, Puyo, Clairet and Villanueva were fighting for the second place, and the two remaining places on the Saturday podium went eventually to Puyo and Clairet.

The grid for the second race had the drivers placed in reverse order, with Italian drivers Pedala and Simoni on the front row, ahead of Villanueva and Da Costa. An incident affecting three cars in the first lap forced the deployment of the safety car, which left the track after two laps. Simoni, Pedala, Da Costa and Da Veiga took the lead of the race, with Simoni and later Pedala leading the pack closely followed by Beirao.
On lap eight, Pedala and Beirao managed to open a gap, leaving Puyo and Villanueva fighting for the third place. Lourenço Beirao took the victory in the last few laps and thus won the right to take part in the Brands Hatch WTCC race.

The next race of the Seat León Eurocup, fourth of the season, will be raced in the Brands Hatch circuit on 26 and 27 July.
