Malaysian team TPC Qi-Meritus capped a brilliant weekend in Indonesia when Earl Bamber and James Grunwell completed their second successive 1-2 finish in as many days in the Formula V6 Asia Championship which concluded at the Sentul Circuit today.

In the Formula BMW Pacific Championship today, Hong Kong driver Ross Jamison, from the TPC Qi-Meritus, won his second race in successive days.

The bounty for TPC Qi-Meritus over the weekend at the Sentul Circuit was four victories – two each in Formula V6 Asia and Formula BMW Pacific.

Bamber and Grunwell, top two in the qualifying session and the first race (Round 5) here yesterday, were once again absolutely dominant and swept their rivals aside to claim all the spoils today.

For Kiwi driver Bamber, today's victory in Round 6 was his second in-a-row and third so far this season. His back-to-back victories have catapulted him from the third spot prior to this weekend's races to the top of the standings.

Defending champion Grunwell, who led the championship by a single before this weekend's races, has dropped into second spot but well within reach of his teammate. Bamber leads with 74 points while Grunwell is just three points behind. Black Tara's Armaan Ebrahim is third.

At the halfway point of the championship (there are six more rounds to go), TPC Qi-Meritus leads both the drivers' and team championships and are well on track to retaining their titles in the two categories.

"It was a thrilling race and I was pleased to have made it to the top on both days. We had a good set-up and things went really well for both of us. Most important, we were able to build up a gap on our rivals in the championship," said Bamber.

In the Formula BMW Pacific championship today, Jamison quickly recovered from an accident in the first race of the day to snatch the chequred flag later in the evening.

Today's victory was Jamison's second this weekend and his third so far this season. And after four exciting rounds this weekend, the TPC Qi-Meritus driver has extended his overall lead in the championship by 10 points. Jamison tops the standings with 150 points.

In today's first race (Round 10), Jamison and Sean McDonagh, second and pole on the grid, clashed early as they attempted to get ahead. "We were side-by-side, there was room but we made contact and unfortunately, he (McDonagh) could not continue. My car was also badly damaged and I was lucky to cross the line in ninth," Jamison said.

Despite the severe damage, the team's engineers performed superbly in the little time they had to get the car up and running competitively for the second race (Round 11). "I started on pole because I won the second race yesterday. The team gave me a good car and I had a flying start … it was really good."

"But then I had a problem with the engine cover, it was loose. As a result of the drag, I was loosing top speed down the straights but I concentrated on being consistent and pushed hard all the way. It turned out to be a difficult race but a satisfying one," Jamison commented.

Two other TPC Qi-Meritus drivers made the podium today. The duo were Chris Wootton of Hong Kong and Simon Moss from South Africa.

Meanwhile, Malaysia's up and coming driver, Arvin Roslan, was in the points for both races today. The 19-year-old Arvin, competing in his first international race outside Malaysia, finished 10th and sixth respectively today.

"I did not do as well as I hoped for but managed 10th. In the second race, I started in eighth place on the grid but ended up sixth across the line. I collected points in both races but it would have been better if I had finished higher up the list," Arvin said.

A delighted team manager, Firhat Mokhzani, said: "It was a very good weekend for us. We knew coming here would be difficult because Ross was not very comfortable with the circuit, we too have not had very good luck here. But we just kept working hard and have now extended the lead in both the drivers' and team championships. It was an all-round great result."

Team principal and founder, Peter Thompson, said of Jamison's performance: "It was a character building weekend for Ross. He arrived here last Wednesday as a boy and left as a man with a future F1 career."

The next Formula BMW Pacific Championship races will take place on the sidelines of the Singapore Grand Prix in September this year.
