SBD Partnership succeeds in securing Toyota the first ever 4 x 4 British Insurance Car Security Award

SBD’s on-going consultancy in the development of effective security systems for Toyota Motor Corporation has resulted in Toyota’s Land Cruiser V8 receiving top honours at this year’s highly influential British Insurance Car Security Awards in the category of “Large 4x4”.

The Land Cruiser V8 achieved the maximum 5 stars in both “theft of” and “theft from” categories in the New Vehicle Security Ratings (NVSR).  Notably, this is the first ever 4x4 model to receive this accolade.  SBD’s Security and Cost of Ownership Specialist, Paul MacSweeney, was on hand to accept the award on behalf of Toyota (GB) PLC.

The awards developed by the Automobile Association, the Department of Transport, the Home Office, and the Motor Insurance Repair Research Centre at Thatcham aim to raise public awareness of vehicle security and identify vehicle manufacturers who show dedication to producing secure vehicles.

SBD has a long and respected relationship with Toyota, working alongside the vehicle development departments in Japan and its UK Product Marketing and European Cost of Ownership teams to assess future market requirements, set security rating targets, and make security design recommendations.

Miguel Fonseca, Managing Director of Toyota (GB) PLC commented “We are delighted to receive this award, and recognise the valuable support provided by SBD’s security team in ensuring that Toyota vehicles remain in the forefront in the fight against vehicle crime”.

This is not the first occasion that SBD has been able to share the limelight with its clients.  Toyota, Lexus and Nissan have all consistently received top marks in previous BICSA Awards and the prestigious WhatCar?Security Supertests.
