Yamaha Celebrates Special Edition Abarth 695 biposto

The Movistar Yamaha MotoGP team were last week given three special customised Abarth 695 biposto Yamaha Factory Racing Edition cars in a special ceremony at the Abarth headquarters in Turin. Abarth Head Operations Paolo Gagliardo made the presentation of the cars to Lin Jarvis, Managing Director of Yamaha Motor Racing, in the presence of Alfredo Altavilla, EMEA COO and CEO of Abarth. The three Abarth‘s are all uniquely customised with silver details for the Team car, red details for Jorge Lorenzo and yellow details for current MotoGP championship leader Valentino Rossi.

Suzuki power for new entry-level Caterham Seven

Caterham Cars' soon-to-be-released, all-new entry-level Seven will be powered by a 660cc, three-cylinder turbocharged engine manufactured by Suzuki Motor Corporation - the smallest and most efficient engine ever installed in a Seven. High performance Kia pro_cee’d GT and cee’d GT models set for mid-2013 launch

Kia’s first high performance models, the three-door Kia pro_cee’d GT and the five-door Kia cee’d GT, will go on sale in mid-2013.    The two new GT models will be powered by a new version of Kia’s 1.6-litre GDI (gasoline direct injection) engine, equipped with a twin-scroll turbocharger and strengthened internal components. Power and torque outputs are dramatically increased.  Maximum power is 204 ps, up 51% over the non-turbo engine, with torque up 61% to 265 Nm.

 

Kia receives iF design awards for its three-door pro_cee'd and innovative Optima iPad app

The second-generation Kia pro_cee’d has become Kia’s latest model to be recognized for its exceptional design, earning a prestigious iF product design award.   The three-door pro_cee’d, which will go on sale in the second half of 2013, was a winner in the ‘Transportation Design’ category of the awards, which saw more than 3,000 products entered from 48 countries.  A jury of over 30 industry professionals judged the entries on design quality, workmanship, innovation, functionality and safety.

 

New look for upgraded Kia Cadenza in 2013

Kia’s popular Cadenza large luxury sedan will receive a significant upgrade and a new look for 2013.  Based closely on the 2009 model’s styling by Chief Design Officer, Peter Schreyer, and his global design teams, the new-look Cadenza features fresh elements that incorporate Kia’s evolving design DNA.   Echoing some of the visual innovations of Kia’s flagship Quoris sedan (‘K9’ in Korea), the 2013 Cadenza (‘K7’ in Korea) will have a more distinctive appearance with new hood, trunk lid, light clusters (front and rear) and new bumpers, plus side air vents in the front wings and a new interpretation of the brand’s ‘tiger nose’ grille.

 

SLS AMG GT3 45° anniversary: world premiere at Sao Paolo

World premiere for the new SLS AMG GT3 "45th ANNIVERSARY" at the 2012 São Paolo International Motor Show:  the exclusively appointed special series is aimed at car collectors with a particular penchant for motor racing. The customer sport racing car is being built by hand in a limited edition of no more than five vehicles in Affalterbach. Record DTM champion and AMG brand ambassador Bernd Schneider is involved hands-on in the production process, installing the AMG 6.3-litre V8 engine in the SLS AMG GT3 "45th ANNIVERSARY" together with an AMG engine fitter.

 

Quoris promises high performance, luxury driving pleasure

 Kia’s all- luxury flagship sedan, the Quoris, which goes on sale outside Korea later this year, promises high performance and a new level of luxury driving pleasure.  Kia’s first modern rear-wheel drive car is a true landmark vehicle for the company.   “As our first modern rear-wheel drive large sedan, the Kia Quoris offers unprecedented sporty driving dynamics and premium ride comfort thanks to the optimum harmony of a powerful V6 engine mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission featuring shift-by-wire technology, a near-perfect front/rear weight distribution and an electronically controlled air suspension system with a self-leveling function,” comments Soon-Nam Lee, Kia’s Director of Overseas Marketing Group.

 

World premiere for all-new Kia pro_cee’d at Paris Motor Show

Kia Motors will reveal the third member of its second-generation cee’d family, the all-new pro_cee’d three-door hatchback, at the Paris Motor Show on 27 September.   The sophisticated new pro_cee’d features all the improvements made to the cee’d five-door and cee’d Sportswagon, while dramatically progressing the enhanced sporty appearance that made its predecessor so popular.   “This car embodies emotion and energy through and through,” explains Peter Schreyer, Kia’s Chief Design Officer.

 

McLaren 12C Can-Am Edition racing concept makes debut at Pebble Beach

McLaren GT, the new race car manufacturing arm of the McLaren Group, is presenting a dramatic track-focused concept at the Pebble Beach Concours, the 12C Can-Am Edition. The one-off design study is finished in historic McLaren Orange and satin black.   The 12C Can-Am Edition is finished in striking shade of McLaren Orange, in tribute to cars of Bruce McLaren and Denny Hulme which were extremely successful throughout the 1960s and 1970s. The bold hue is in dramatic contrast to the roof, door and bumper sections, finished in satin black, while carbon fibre also features on the side radiator vanes, wing mirrors and engine cover.

 

Kia Cerato (Forte) sedan becomes longer, lower and wider

The all-new version of Kia’s global best-selling model, the Cerato compact sedan (also known as Forte in some countries), is scheduled to go on sale during the first quarter of 2013 at Kia dealerships in many overseas markets.   Longer, lower and wider than the current car, with an extended wheelbase, the next generation Cerato will be manufactured with an all-new bodyshell structure.   Featuring futuristic and dynamic styling, the all-new Cerato features a sleeker profile, LED front and rear lamps and a chrome-finished beltline.

 

New 2013 Kia Cerato

Kia Motors will introduce the next generation Cerato compact sedan later this year in its home market of Korea under a new name – ‘K3’ (domestic market only).  Also known as Forte in some countries, the Cerato was Kia’s global best-seller in 2011 with more than 445,000 units delivered.    While creating the latest model Kia’s designers and engineers focused on giving the all-new Cerato futuristic and dynamic styling, with a more spacious cabin.    After going on sale in Korea, the all-new Cerato sedan will appear at Kia dealerships in many overseas markets during the first quarter of 2013, to be followed by five-door hatchback and two-door coupe variants.

 

Kia ‘Quoris’ flagship sedan promises premium driving convenience and innovative safety technologies

Kia’s striking, rear-wheel drive, all-new flagship sedan will be called ‘Quoris’ when it goes on sale in overseas markets from the fourth quarter of 2012. The new luxury model (known as ‘K9’ in the domestic market) went on sale in Korea in early May, and features a host of high-tech comfort and safety features, many of them never seen before on a Kia.   “Derived from the English words ‘core’ and ‘quality’, the name of our new flagship sedan hints at the attributes at the very heart of the vehicle,” commented Thomas Oh, Kia’s Executive Vice President & COO of the International Business Division.

 

Kia reveals all-new ‘K9’ flagship sedan for Korean market

Kia today revealed the first official photographs of its all-new flagship sedan to be launched during the first half of this year in the Korean market.  Referred to by its codename ‘KH’ until now, the company also confirmed that the Korean market name will be ‘K9’ – while the name for export markets, as well as overseas launch timings, will be revealed later this year.  K9 is Kia’s first rear-wheel drive sedan.  It boasts Kia’s ‘best of the best’ design, driving performance and high technology capabilities and is regarded as one of 2012’s most eagerly anticipated all-new models in both Korean and overseas markets.

It is also the latest expression of a successful creative collaboration that has given rise to a series of striking GT cars over the last half-century, the original and most iconic of which being the DB4GT Zagato. Kia dreams big with Track’ster concept car unveil at 2012 Chicago Auto Show

What happens when a dream becomes reality?  In the case of the Kia Track’ster concept unveiled at today’s Chicago Auto Show, car enthusiasts begin to salivate.  Amid the driving rhythm of heavy-metal music, smoke and blinding lights, Kia Motors America (KMA) took the wraps off a performance-oriented three-door Soul coupe concept that hints at what could possibly be the future of Kia’s wildly successful Soul.   “The idea was to make the Track’ster tough looking, like a bulldog,” said Tom Kearns, chief designer for KMA.

Chevrolet Camaro SS to pace 2010 Indianapolis 500

Officials from Chevrolet and Indianapolis Motor Speedway unveiled the 2010 Chevrolet Camaro SS Indianapolis 500 pace car at the Speedway’s Hall of Fame Museum today. “We’ve enjoyed a great partnership with the Indianapolis Motor Speedway throughout the years, and are proud to once again have the privilege of pacing the Indianapolis 500 in a Camaro,” said Jim Campbell, General Manager, Chevrolet. The 2010 Chevy Camaro Indianapolis 500 pace car is a 21st century sports car that looks to the future with a nod to both the car’s and the race’s heritage.

Hummer introduces biofuel capability

HUMMER announced today updates to the 2010 HUMMER H3 and H3T midsize all-terrain vehicles including the addition of three new exterior colors and an available E85 Flex Fuel capable 5.3L V8 engine as part of its commitment to offer a biofuel powertrain in all body styles by 2010. Both H3-based vehicles will begin arriving in dealerships before the end of 2009 in North America. "In 2007, HUMMER committed to offer a biofuel powertrain in every vehicle by 2010 and follows through on that promise with the addition of a new 300-horsepower, E85 Flex Fuel capable 5.

New Volkswagen Polo expands as three-door model ordering begins

Shortly before the first new Polo models are delivered to customers, the three-door version has become available to order.  This not only provides more choice but also increases the possibility of Polo ownership to a wider audience as the entry-level price is now reduced to £9,435 (OTR RRP).  The same five-door Polo costs £10,035.  If an order is placed now for a three-door Polo, it will be scheduled to arrive in January. Engine and trim level availability is the same for three-door and five-door models.

 

Mitsubishi Motors Lineup at the 41st Tokyo Motor Show

Mitsubishi will be showing a total of 16 cars at the 41st Tokyo Motor Show in October. Among cars on display at the Mitsubishi Motor stand include two concept cars developed to a "The EV*1: Its dawn and future" theme: the Mitsubishi Concept PX-MiEV and the i-MiEV CARGO, the i-MiEV new-generation electric vehicle for which the company is currently accepting pre-orders for the start of sales to individual customers in April 2010; and 10 current production vehicles that qualify for eco-car tax incentives in Japan.

In 2009 Fiat Automobiles is proving to be the most ecological brand in Europe

One of the 25 best-selling automobile brands in Europe and after two years of holding the leadership position, Fiat Automobiles has proven to be the brand having the lowest average CO2 emissions on cars sold during the first half of 2009: 129.1 g/km (the figure was 133.7 g/km just six months ago). Fiat has also set a new record: it is the only full-liner brand that already today has achieved the European average goal of 130 g/km established for 2015. The record of 129.1 g/km set by Fiat was corroborated by JATO, a world leader in automotive advisory and research services, founded in 1984 and now operating in over 40 countries.
