The new Audi TT is the most popular car in Germany – that was the result of the poll conducted by the motoring organisation ADAC among its readers. The sports coupé beat off competition from 46 other candidates. After the Audi A6 in 2005, the TT is now the second product from Ingolstadt to pick up the ADAC''s accolade, the "Yellow Angel". Some 220,000 readers of the magazine ADAC Motorwelt took part in the survey, in addition to visitors to the website of Germany''s largest automobile club.

Creating the second Audi TT generation represented a special challenge. Since its launch, the first-generation model had achieved cult status. The developers'' declared objective was to develop this design icon to a higher level. More space, better handling, more functionality and unique engineering solutions, such as a lightweight composite body construction, are just some of the new characteristics implemented in the Audi TT. The designers faced a similarly daunting task. The new Audi TT would have to be immediately recognisable as a TT. At the same time, the car should appear more modern and more grown up. Evolution and not revolution was the motto for this car. The ADAC readers'' clear verdict in favour of the Audi TT provides confirmation that Audi has met its objectives.

There are currently two engines available for the Audi TT: the 2.0 TFSI delivers 200 bhp. For even more power there is the 3.2, offering 250 bhp. It is a six-cylinder engine combined with quattro permanent four-wheel drive. The S tronic direct shift gearbox is available as an option for both models. In March the Roadster will be added to extend the TT range.

In the category "Personality" the "Yellow Angel" was awarded to Manfred Wennemer, Chairman of the Board of Management of Continental AG. Following the tradition of this award, the winner of the previous year congratulated Mr. Wennemer. In this case the honour fell to Prof. Dr. Martin Winterkorn, Chairman of the Board of Management of Volkswagen AG, who had received the 2006 award, at that time as Chairman of the Board of Management of Audi AG. Prof. Dr. Winterkorn paid tribute to the 2007 winner with the words: "Manfred Wennemer knows the ground rules of our industry extremely well. He attaches great importance to innovation, quality and efficiency. And these are the standards by which he acts consistently and unswervingly."
