Chevrolet Europe has awarded two young talented Spanish artists, Alejandro Campos Polo and Alejandro López Becerro for creating the best two posters for the “Chevrolet Diesel Workshop” in Salamanca, Spain.

As already announced at the Geneva Motor Show in March this year, Chevrolet is organizing an art contest called “Young? Creative? – Chevrolet!” in partnership with schools of Applied Art.

The competition has initially been launched in several European countries, offering opportunities to participate in five different categories: photo, video, visual arts, interior design and fashion.

It will in the course of next year be expanded to all European countries where Art Academies are interested in participating.

For the past four weeks, Chevrolet has been hosting European media in Salamanca, Spain, launching various diesel engine applications.

This offered a unique environment to introduce the contest to the Escuela de Arte de Salamanca. Enthusiastic about the idea, the school encouraged its students to participate. As a local kick-off, students submitted 88 posters illustrating the diesel workshop and the school selected 40 of the entries to be exhibited at the Salamanca automobile museum for a local competition. Over 500 journalists of the participating media took the time to vote for their favourite poster.

Journalists as well as exhibition visitors were impressed by the creativity of the students. From a very artistic selection of 40 final submissions, the posters of Alejandro Campos Polo and Alejandro López Becerro gained most points and made their creators winners of this first contest of the Chevrolet Art Project.

Chevrolet Europe highly appreciates the support for this project and the outstanding efforts of the students of the Escuela de Arte de Salamanca and its director, professor Luis Lima Gonzalez and the teacher of the participating students, professor Alejandro Garcia Martin. The high interest from students, teachers and media showed that cars and technology can be an interesting subject for artistic expression and that Chevrolet Europe has chosen a well-received idea to support young artists in Europe.
