Alfa Romeo at the 62nd Frankfurt International Motor Show

Alfa Romeo returns to the Frankfurt International Motor Show with an exciting stand that highlights the sinuous styling of its cars. The display area is created with innovative, luxurious materials, and black and white alternate which, combined with the simple, straightforward design, helps to create a sophisticated atmosphere that conveys Italian technology and excellence to perfection.

The public will discover the Alfa Romeo world in this striking setting, and the new ‘Unique Alfa’ Customisation Programme in particular, which is the focal point of the stand. All the cars on display at the Show include elements from this new proposal by the brand, that features some of the best Italian products and allows customers to make their cars even more refined and exclusive. The ‘Unique Alfa’ Programme was developed on the Alfa 8C Competizione, but has been available for a couple of months throughout the range. It breaks down into three main areas: ‘Vintage’, ‘Collezione’ and ‘TI’. The first reinterprets Alfa Romeo tradition with elegance and modernity, with regard to the colours for the bodywork and the beautifully crafted upholstery.

The ‘Collezione’ catalogue invites customers to explore the world of fashion and elegance, with luxury materials, metal inserts and multi-layer lacquered paint. The ‘TI’ line is a tribute to Alfa Romeo’s history in motorsports, because sport and racing have always played a fundamental role in the development of cutting-edge technologies, and offers a low stance, a boosted braking system, alloy wheels and high performance tyres.

To make the stand even more original, the platforms on which the cars are displayed have specific colours in each of the three ‘Unique Alfa’ areas, while in another area, visitors can find out more about the Customisation Programme interactively, with screens and multimedia stations. The Alfa Romeo building conveys the same stylistic refinement and state-of-the-art technology; it contains the offices, the Alfa Café, the lounge areas and a number of LED screens projecting striking pictures of the sailing and motorcycle worlds, two environments in which Alfa Romeo is now a protagonist, through the ‘Alfa Romeo Yacht Racing Team’, the Alfa Romeo maxiyacht and the Melges 24 Alfa Spider, as well as a sponsor of the SBK Superbike World Championship® and the Ducati Corse team.

The stand in Frankfurt will be host to the new Alfa 147 C’N’C CoSTUME NATIONAL, a special series born out of collaboration between Alfa Romeo and the stylist Ennio Capasa, and the Alfa GT 1.9 JTDMequipped with the ‘Q2’ system (the Torsen® self-locking front differential that confirms all the strong points of a front-wheel drive, increasing driving pleasure and control, but also provides some of the advantages typical of four-wheel drive); it also features some Unique Alfa elements such as 18” special wheel rims, sports instrumentation and aluminium pedals in the TI range.

Next to this car, there will be two Alfa 159s: a Sportwagon that features the new ‘Q-Tronic’ 6-speed gearbox combined with the 200 bhp 2.4 JTDMengine, and a saloon equipped with the 210 bhp 2.4 JTDMengine and the Q4 system, the evolution of permanent 4-wheel drive, with three differentials (the centre differential is a Torsen C self-locking unit), as well as the sophisticated Blue&MeTM Nav system and some items from the TI range.

The spotlights of the German Show are also on the other two cars from the new Alfa Romeo generation: an Alfa Brera 2.4 JTDM, delivering 210 bhp, an exciting car that represents a new approach to the traditional spirit of the coupé, and the 260 bhp Alfa Spider 3.2 V6 JTS Q4, which recalls Alfa Romeo’s glorious tradition in this field: from the Giulietta Spider of the 1950s to the Duetto and the Spider launched in the 1990s. Both cars obviously feature items from the Vintage, Collezione and TI ranges of the ‘Unique Alfa’ Programme.

And finally, the Frankfurtpublic will have an opportunity to take a close look at the Alfa 8C Competizione which is displayed on a special platform with sophisticated light effects that make it even more attractive. The state of the art in the automotive world, this exclusive GT, which is produced in a limited series of 500 cars, stands out for the sculpted, finely modelled surfaces that ‘clothe the superb Alfa Romeo engines and engineering perfectly. And the lines of the car convey all the beauty of a real ‘work of art in movement’ which recalls the brand’s glorious past while it projects the values of technology and emotion into the future.

The past is conjured up in the name itself, which recalls Alfa’s great motorsports tradition. In the Thirties and Forties, the 8C name was used to identify cars (racing and on-road) equipped with the powerful eight-cylinder engine produced by the famous designer Vittorio Jano. The term ‘Competizione’ is intended as a tribute to the 6C 2500 Competizione, a sports coupé driven by the team of Fangio and Zanardi in the famous Mille Miglia race in 1950. But the Alfa 8C Competizione is first and foremost innovation in the fields of mechanical and engineering excellence, increased competitiveness and constant technological research.
