New Volvo V70 in police uniform

At the annual police conference in Stockholm at the end of September, Volvo Special Vehicles is unveiling the all-new generation of the Volvo V70 in "police uniform" for the Swedish police.

The police version is a considerably modified standard car with features such as a reinforced and specially adapted chassis, brakes and wheels, an enhanced electrical system and an ergonomic working environment for the Swedish police. All so as to handle the demanding operating conditions to which the cars are subjected every day when responding to emergencies and so on.

The Swedish police have specified Volvo's well-known and energy-efficient D5 diesel engine with its power output of 185 hp. Next year will see the introduction of the new 200 hp 2.5 FT Flexi-fuel (E85) version as an environmentally optimised option for the police.

The first of the new Volvo V70 police cars will be delivered in January 2008. Later in 2008 Volvo's four-wheel-drive XC70 will also be produced in a police version.
