UK independent repairers comment on R2RC UK launch

‘The Right To Repair Campaign should help to assure the non-discriminatory provision of technical repair information within the retail motor sector,’ said Ray Holloway, director of independent membership within the Retail Motor Industry Federation (RMIF), commenting on the UK launch of the Campaign today (Tuesday 30 October 2007) in London.
The Right to Repair Campaign aims to safeguard consumer choice and effective competition in the market for replacement parts, tools and equipment, servicing and repair, and body repair. It urges vehicle manufacturers to comply fully with the provisions in the current Block Exemption regulation (BER), and calls for the renewal and improvement of this legislation when it expires in 2010.
Holloway adds: ‘historically, independent repairers and franchised dealers have been partners in the retail motor sector, working together to provide consumers with a broad level of choice. We hope that the European Commission now ensures that BER 2010 reaffirms the parity of access to information for the whole retail motor sector.’
