Nissan inaugurates new design studio in Taiwan

The new Yulon Nissan Design Center (YNDC) opened today in San-Yi, joining a global stable of Nissan studios responsible for bringing top talent and the best in creative design thinking to the company's global products.

YNDC joins sister studios in Japan (Atsugi and Harajuku), the United States of America (San Diego and Detroit) and United Kingdom (London). Combined, these design studios are charged with working cooperatively and competitively to create next-generation and all-new vehicle designs. YNDC will add value to the international design group through its unique design vision.

Yulon Asia Design Center, which is the predecessor of YNDC, worked on the redesign of several Nissan products especially for Taiwan and China markets, including X-TRAIL, Bluebird, Cefiro, Verita, March and Serena.

Similar to all other Nissan global design facilities, YNDC is also responsible for designing next-generation models. To reinforce its function, it is now equipped with an advanced digital modeling system and other state-of-the-art design equipment and technology.

The new 3,300 square meter facility, which sits on a 5,840 square meter parcel of land, employs 40 designers from Taiwan and around the world. The designers will work in six functional groups, including Exterior Design, Interior Design, Digital Design, Clay Modeling, Color Design and Design Research & Management.

Yulon Nissan Motor Co., Ltd. (YNM) officiated at today's YNDC opening ceremony which was attended by Steven R. L. Chen, Taiwan's Minister of Economic Affairs, and hosted by K. T. Yen, YNM Chairman, and Shiro Nakamura, Senior Vice President and Chief Creative Officer of Nissan Motor Co., Ltd.
