MAzda6 prices start from £15,100 (OTR)

The all-new Mazda6 will be priced from £15,100 (on-the-road) when it goes on sale in dealer showrooms at the end of the year.  At launch, customers will be offered a choice of 10 saloon and hatchback petrol engined models, with three powertrains and five equipment levels.

'We are launching the all-new Mazda6 on the back of the momentum of the current car which has seen its market share increase over the last three years,” enthuses Mark Cameron, marketing director for Mazda UK.

“All-new Mazda6 will spearhead an increased focus by Mazda on fleet buyers.  We expect the new model to be especially attractive to user-choosers looking for something different and anticipate sales in the region of 13,000 to 14,000 cars during 2008 and beyond.”

In January, the all-new Mazda6 range will be expanded with the arrival of six diesel models and the line-up will be completed by the addition of nine estate cars in March 2008.  Mazda is reducing the price premium for the estate to just £700 (over the hatchback and similarly priced saloons), and anticipates estate sales could grow to 20 percent (from the current 12 percent) thanks to the all-new model’s enhanced styling, specification and interior space.

Mazda’s Range-simplification Policy
With the all-new Mazda6 line-up, Mazda is following through the same philosophy behind the recent introduction of the Mazda2 and Mazda CX-7 by keeping the range as simple as possible.

To implement this policy, Mazda is ensuring that at every equipment level Mazda6 will be highly specified for its price band.  There will also be clear price and specification steps through the range.

As well as the established Mazda equipment levels – S, TS, TS2 and Sport – all-new Mazda6 introduces a fifth level, called ‘SL’ (sports luxury).  The Sport grade will now feature much bolder visual differentiation with the ‘Sports Appearance Pack’ as standard and 18-inch wheels fitted for the first time on a Mazda6.

Every all-new Mazda6 comes with a full complement of safety and security equipment including:  Dynamic Stability Control (DSC) and Traction Control System (TCS), all-disc braking system with ABS, Electronic Brake-force Distribution (EBD), Emergency Brake Assist (EBA), daytime running lights, driver & passenger front airbags, front side airbags, full-length curtain airbags, front seatbelt pre-tensioners with load-limiters, active front Seat head restraints, ISOFIX child Seat anchorages and a Thatcham Category 1 anti-theft alarm.

Clear Price and Specifications ‘Step-Ups’ through the range

The Mazda6 S, priced from £15,100, is fitted with 16-inch alloy wheels, body-coloured bumpers, door handles, mirror housings and side mouldings and electric door mirrors. Comfort and convenience equipment includes: remote central locking with dead locks, global opening/closing for all windows, electric front and rear windows, with one-touch auto down, air-conditioning, height adjustable driver’s Seat with adjustable lumbar support, 60/40 split folding rear seats, radio/single CD audio system with four speakers and an auxiliary jack for connecting MP3 players.

A £1,000 price step-up to the Mazda6 TS (from £16,100) brings buyers a differentiated interior trim and 12 additional equipment items over S model and they include: CF-NET multifunction steering wheel controls, cruise control, dual-zone climate control air-conditioning, leather steering wheel and gear knob, two additional audio speakers and a rear centre armrest.

The outlay of an additional £1,200 to purchase a Mazda6 TS2 (from £17,830) allows owners to enjoy eight items of additional equipment over TS model.  These include: 17-inch alloy wheels, auto dimming rear view mirror, electric folding door mirrors, dusk-sensing automatic lights, rain sensing automatic wipers, 6-disc CD-changer, front fog lights and integrated Bluetooth®.

Dramatically styled, the Mazda6 Sport (from £19,630) wears a Sports Appearance Pack (rear spoiler, side skirts, front and rear sports bumpers, privacy glass and alloy pedal set) plus 18-inch alloy wheels, and Bi-xenon headlamps with active front lights to aid visibility during cornering.

Inside, there is a Smart keyless entry system and Start/Stop button (petrol models only), a 240W BOSE® premium audio system with eight speakers and heated front sports seats with black half-leather trim.

The all-new Mazda6 SL range-topper (from £20,680) builds on the Sport specification with additional front and rear parking sensors, electric sunroof, power adjustable front seats and black full-leather trim – and adopts a more discreet look by deleting the Sports Appearance Pack.

For all-new Mazda6, seven all-new body colours will be available – Brilliant Black (Solid) and a choice of one metallic, Lilac Silver, and five mica finishes – Aurora Blue, Copper Red, Crystal White, Galaxy Grey and Stormy Blue as a £350 extra cost option.

“All-new Mazda6 has certainly been taken upmarket, but with no loss of agility, thanks to the strict weight control approach taken by our engineers,” observes Mark Cameron.

“The designers and engineers were tasked with creating a refined C/D-segment car that fully delivered on its visual promise of ‘sophisticated fun’.  I am confident that the visual sportiness of Mazda6 will carry through to the driving experience and that we have indeed achieved a ‘best-in-class’ ride, handling and refinement combination.”
