Citroën has announced that its highly anticipated new C5 saloon will be available in showrooms from 2nd April.

Benefiting from a completely new approach by the company’s designers, the C5 is the successful combination of French flair and Teutonic-like levels of quality, coupled with the highest standards of comfort, safety and in-car technology for which the Company is renowned.

Throughout the C5’s rigorous development process, the key ambition was to achieve the highest levels of quality, style, comfort and safety for both the saloon as well as the spacious and practical Tourer.

Exceptionally well equipped, the C5 and C5 Tourer will boast a long list of standard features, a choice of six engines and, for the first time in the segment, the option of two suspension systems. Couple this with the latest Citroën vehicle technology, uncompromising design and a clear focus on comfort, the new C5 will prove a welcome arrival to the UK market with the imminent launch of the Saloon, followed by the Tourer in the summer.

The Citroën C5 Tourer balances dynamic performance with space and practicality, in a sophisticated estate car designed to meet the needs of drivers looking for a vehicle with style and personality but with the generous volumes and versatility expected of a Tourer.     

Sharing the front-end styling of the Saloon version, the Tourer is characterised by a sculpted rear that unites style with load space. At 4.83m long (5cm longer than the Saloon) and 1.86m wide, the Tourer maintains the elegant and dynamic appearance of the Saloon, but with added room and functionality.

Maximising the space offered by the C5’s floor pan, the Tourer’s boot offers an impressive capacity of 533 litres making it one of the most spacious in the segment. When the rear seats are folded, boot capacity increases to a total volume of 1,490 litres – enough to accommodate six 60” plasma screen TVs.

Taking full advantage of the long roof on the Tourer, a panoramic glass roof, complete with an electric sunblind, is available which creates an even lighter and more spacious atmosphere inside the cabin.

Expanding on the already extensive list of equipment available in the new C5, the Tourer is also available with a motorised tailgate system to make loading easier. Easily accessible controls positioned on the tailgate allow drivers to open and close the boot automatically and for additional ease of use, the tailgate can also be opened remotely from a button on the C5’s key fob, whilst users can set the required elevation – a handy feature when boot access is restricted.

Other neat design features include shopping bag hooks on the boot side walls, side storage nets for stowing loose objects, a luggage cover blind and a cargo net with ceiling hooks for the transportation of large items.

A clever dual-function flashlight mounted into the wall of the boot functions as a boot light but it can also be removed and used as a hand-held torch.
