Colorless Color is Most Popular Choice in Cars
|
|
Vibrant reds and flashy yellows are taking a back Seat when it comes to the most popular car color. Instead, more consumers are opting for nothing at all by choosing white or white pearl as their vehicle’s color of choice.
While silver has maintained this title for the past seven years according to Forbes Auto, car colors are following the global trends seen in home furnishing and fashion by remaining neutral. However, silver isn’t too far behind in the car color popularity contest, coming in at second, and black is third.
Auto experts indicate other colors, like red, are also gaining ground. While brown used to have negative connotations back in the 1980s, the growing popularity of coffee has helped change its “dirty” and “muddy” perspective.
General Motors designers indicate that automotive paint is not only tested for the effects of extreme weather and looks but also the adhesion properties of the chemicals.
Hence, automakers are constantly testing and experimenting with new paint properties well before that “it” color is seen on any runway or road.
