Toyota announces €26.7 million investment in Spanish parts centre

22 luglio 2008

Toyota Motor Europe (TME) will invest €26.7 million to relocate Toyota Parts Centre Spain (TPCES) to a newly constructed and larger facility, scheduled for completion in 2010. The new premises, which will contribute a total of 16,800 m2 in building space, will enhance the delivery of vehicle parts and accessories across Spain in-line with sales growth. TME has purchased 47,500 m2 of land, located in Illescas (Toledo), south of Madrid, for the relocation. TPCES is currently based in San Agustín de Guadalix, around 90 km north of Illescas. Construction begins in 2009.

'The new site and larger premises will help us satisfy the growing number of customers in Spain by ensuring on-time availability of vehicle parts and accessories' said Tadashi Arashima, President and Chief Executive Offer of TME. 'Employees can also look forward to a modernised working environment - boosting productivity and strengthening team performance,' he added.

As part of Toyota's ongoing efforts to minimise the environmental impact of its operations, the new facility will introduce 'green' measures, such as waste recycling and rainwater recapture and re-use, and investigate the use of renewable energy sources for improved energy efficiency.

TPCES currently employs 34 people and distributes to around 100 Toyota and Lexus retailers in Spain. The facility is one of 14 TME parts centres across Europe. In 2007, Toyota sold 81,677 vehicles in Spain - up 4% on 2006.
