Toyota Land Cruiser V8 wins Security Award for second year

The Toyota Land Cruiser V8 has been voted number one for the second year running in the large 4x4 category at the British Insurance Vehicle Security Awards. Designed to raise consumer awareness of what is best in vehicle security, the awards took place today at the Motor Insurance Repair Research Centre in Thatcham, Berkshire.

Available in one single luxury specification powered by a 4.5-litre D-4D engine, the iconic Toyota Land Cruiser V8 is now in its eighth generation. With the ability to Seat seven and a host of sophisticated handling, suspension and drivetrain systems, it ensures safety, comfort and secure handling in both the rough and on the open road.

Based on the New Vehicle Security Rating Scheme (NVSR), vehicles are assessed on points awarded under the categories of ‘theft of’ and ‘theft from’ the vehicle, with the winner achieving the highest overall score.

Thatcham’s Vehicle Security Manager, Mike Briggs, said, “Car manufacturers can be proud of what has been achieved in recent years in terms of security and at Thatcham we use the power of our New Vehicle Security Ratings as a publicly available and easy to understand guide to security levels, alongside these awards, to help drive dramatic improvements. All of those manufacturers who have been recognised today should be praised for their continuing efforts.”
