AutoWeek Breaks Major Ford Mustang and Chevy Camaro News in December 18 Issue
|
|
On the cover, AutoWeek reveals what the Camaro convertible will look like when Chevrolet reveals it, possibly as soon as the North American International Auto Show (NAIAS) in January.
AutoWeek reports that the convertible won production approval at the same time as the Camaro coupe won approval in mid-2006.
On the Ford front, AutoWeek reveals the company's plan to take the Mustang mainstream. Ideas include both sedan and wagon variants of America's original muscle car, with those cars joining the traditional coupe when the sixth- generation Mustang arrives in U.S. showrooms in 2011.
"Our sources tell us Ford wants to get a lot more out of the Mustang brand in the future. As AutoWeek notes in the story, the first indication of this strategy will actually appear as a Lincoln sports sedan based on the Mustang chassis at the NAIAS in January," said Bob Gritzinger, senior news editor, AutoWeek.
