Following on from the successful running of the inaugural BMW Caulfield Cup in October, BMW becomes a National sponsor of the Magic Millions company, as well as its official vehicle supplier.
Magic Millions is an innovative bloodstock auction house with annual sales of more than 8,500 horses worth in excess of $213 million.
The flagship Magic Millions event is conducted on the Gold Coast in January every year and consists of the largest Yearling Sales in the Southern hemisphere and a 19-day Carnival, with a major highlight being the Magic Millions race day.
A feature race on the Magic Millions day will be the $500,000 BMW Magic Millions Cup, and open only to graduates of the Magic Millions Sales. This will be conducted in addition to the two $1million Magic Millions races.
BMW’s involvement with Magic Millions also incorporates the Magic Millions Sales in Adelaide and Perth, with Magic Millions race days taking place in these cities also.
BMW will have naming rights to the sale, race day and 2YO Classic race in Perth, as well as being an official sale and race day sponsor in Adelaide.
“BMW is delighted to be involved with the Magic Millions events around Australia,” said BMW Group Australia, General Manager, Marketing, Tom Noble.
“As the supplier of thoroughbred high performance cars with the emphasis on sporting excitement, our support of the Magic Millions and top class horse racing in Australia is a natural one.
“We are very excited to be involved with the thoroughbred industry at this level. The two One Million Dollar races as well as the Carnival and Sales draw a huge amount of interest within racing in Australia and around the world.
“Just as BMW competes at the pinnacle of motor racing with its BMW SauberF1 Team, so BMW is an enthusiastic supporter of prime competition in the Sport of Kings in Australia: in Perth, Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane and now the Gold Coast,” Tom said.
“Magic Millions is the biggest thoroughbred auction company in Australia and the Gold Coast event in January is the biggest Summer Thoroughbred Event in Australia,” said Magic Millions Managing Director, David Chester.
“The January Gold Coast sale in 2006 averaged over $140,000 per yearling, for a total of $93 million.
“BMW produces the ultimate driving machines, and Magic Millions produces the ultimate racehorses - there is a great synergy between the two companies.
“Magic Millions company is very proud to have BMW as our company’s vehicle of choice, and look forward to a long and successful association with BMW Group Australia,” he said.
