Conquest Racing’s Nelson Philippe Will Start 13th for Sunday’s Gran Premio Tecate in Mexico City

12 novembre 2007

After a busy Saturday morning practice filled with minor adjustments and alterations to find an ideal setup, Nelson Philippe (#34 Juniper Soul / Opes Prime / Cosworth / DP01 / Bridgestone) will start in 13th position for the Gran Premio Tecate presented by Banamex on Sunday.

Since Nelson had limited practice time on Friday, he took full advantage of the hour and fifteen minute session to test the car’s balance and make setup modifications to help him achieve better handling on the 2.774-mile Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez road course.  In the end, Nelson was only able to put together a 13th position qualifying lap but is looking forward to having a solid start in Sunday’s race and battling the field to improve his finish.

  Position Time Fastest Speed

Nelson Philippe Quote
“I’m pretty disappointed with our qualifying finish,” said Nelson. “13th position obviously isn’t where we wanted to be. On a positive note, we have learned a lot today in reference to how I like the car and how to get it closer to my liking. I think we will be strong in the race like we usually are. It is frustrating that we couldn’t get a better position to start because we were hoping to be in the top ten but we’ll just look forward to a better result in tomorrow’s race.”

Eric Bachelart Quote
“We obviously had hoped for a better result at today’s final qualifying,” said Eric Bachelart, Conquest Racing Team Owner. “We did a lot of work during this morning’s practice session and thought we had found a better set up for the car. However, Nelson is a great race day competitor so I believe we will have a good event tomorrow and improve on our Surfers Paradise result.”
