Paul resumed at the end of the field whilst Susie lost her bonnet and received a drive-through penalty.

Lap 15: Gary Paffett made his first routine stop and resumed right behind Schneider.
Lap 20: Mathias Lauda tangled with Vanina Ickx before the Grundig hairpin; therefore, the safety car was deployed on lap 22. At this time, Bruno Spengler came into the pits for his first stop. Mika Häkkinen took the lead.

Lap 59: Daniel la Rosa collided with Lucas Luhr (Audi) and received a drive-through penalty, for which he came in on lap 63. Bernd Schneider reduced the gap behind Bruno Spengler to 1.3sec.

Finish (lap 74):
When James Bond actor Roger Moore waved the chequered flag, Bruno Spengler 1.8sec ahead of Bernd Schneider and Mattias Ekström. Gary Paffett came home fourth followed by Tom Kristensen (Audi), Jamie Green (Salzgitter AMG Mercedes C-Class) and Alexandros Margaritis. Mika Häkkinen who posted the fastest laps during the final stage of the race, ended up ninth.

Bruno Spengler, 2007 DaimlerChrysler Bank AMG Mercedes C-Class, winner:
“I am very happy about this victory. I was aware before, that I am still a championship contender and this win confirmed that. My car was great and our team had the perfect strategy. Thank you to everybody for their efforts.”

Bernd Schneider, 2007 Genuine Parts AMG Mercedes C-Class, second:
“I am really satisfied. Towards the end I was able to close the gap to Bruno; however, it was not enough to overtake. Congratulations to him on his victory. Fighting for the championship, you can score valuable points also with second and third places. It’s nice to take the overall lead after the first half of the season, but it would be nicer to be the leader after the final race.”

Gary Paffett, 2006 Laureus AMG Mercedes C-Class, fourth:
“A very good race. The car was not as fast as the 2007 C-Class; also because I suffered from oversteer for a while. Under these circumstances I am satisfied with my fourth place.”

Jamie Green, 2007 Salzgitter AMG Mercedes C-Class, sixth:
“During the first half of the race my speed wasn’t very good; however, this improved in the second half. Unfortunately it was too late to achieve a better result.”

Alexandros Margaritis, 2006 stern AMG Mercedes C-Class, seventh:
“I had a great start, but when I approached the Grundig hairpin I got on some dirt and lost two positions. I was really angry, but this increased my motivation and I gave it my all. It’s nice to score points again.”

Mika Häkkinen, 2007 AMG Mercedes C-Class, ninth:
“A good result for Mercedes-Benz, but unfortunately not for me. With the good work of my team and the perfectly set-up C-Class, a podium finish would have been a logical result for me today. However, this was prevented by the deployment of the Safety Car.”

Mathias Lauda, 2006 Trilux AMG Mercedes C-Class, 11th:
“After my collision with Vanina Ickx my car’s alignement was wrong, therefore I was not able to drive faster.”
Daniel la Rosa, 2006 TrekStor AMG Mercedes C-Class, 12th: “Unfortunately I was not able to avoid the incident with Lucas Luhr. After the drive-through penalty I could not improve my position. It’s a shame, because I had a good speed today.”

Paul di Resta, 2005 JAWA4U.de AMG Mercedes C-Class, 15th:
“I am not happy. After the collision at the beginning I gave it my all, but my race was already over. After the spin at the end I am very disappointed.”

Susie Stoddart, 2005 TV Spielfilm AMG Mercedes C-Class, 16th:
“I had no chance to avoid the incident at the first corner, because my steering was already at full lock. The replacement of the bonnet and the drive-through penalty destroyed my race. The accident with Vanina was my fault, sorry. It’s a shame.”

Norbert Haug, Vice President Mercedes-Benz Motorsport:
“A great and tough race with a 1-2 victory for Bruno and Bernd. Congratulations to Bruno on his first win of the season and to the HWA team under Gerhard Ungar and Hans-Jürgen Mattheis on the third consecutive win of the new C-Class. The second place and the championship lead for Bernd as well as Gary’s fourth place are also a very good result at the end of the first half of the season. I am sorry for Mika. Today, he was one of the fastest in the field and clearly had a podium finish in reach, but he fell victim to the new Safety Car rules. When the field lined up behind the Safety Car, his lead was gone and everybody who had stopped before him had an advantage. Halfway through the season, the first six drivers in the overall ranking are within 9.5 points, including Bernd, Bruno, Gary and Paul. In the team ranking, the HWA team Genuine Parts/DaimlerChrysler Bank AMG Mercedes reduced a gap of 19 points after two races to 1.5 points now – great job!”
