News from the Audi DTM team

A German hard rock band, happy birthday wishes, life-size furry figures and Formula 1 meets DTM: even alongside the track there was action galore with Audi during the DTM weekend at Oschersleben.

Red Bull not only gives you wings, the beverage brand also creates links. So there was no question that Mattias Ekström and Martin Tomczyk, the two drivers of the Red Bull Audi A4 DTM cars, would pose for a picture together with Formula 1 shooting star Sebastian Vettel at Oschersleben. Vettel had come to the circuit near Magdeburg with his Toro Rosso racer for a show appearance as part of the DTM supporting programme.

The crossover rock band H-Blockx stands for speedy action on the stage, and Audi factory driver Markus Winkelhock on the track. At the garage of Audi Sport Team Rosberg the members of the German band and the racer met for an exchange of experience under the motto: what’s more impressive, H-Blockx rock or V8 DTM sound? The discussion ended in a draw.

The Audi customer team Futurecom-TME held a belated birthday celebration for Christijan Albers at the paddock, complete with a cake and singing "Happy Birthday" to him. Albers, who came back to the DTM this season, turned 29 on 16 April.

The works council of Volkswagen AG took advantage of the geographic proximity to pay a visit to the corporation’s "home circuit". Bernd Osterloh, the Chairman of the Joint and Group Works Council of Volkswagen AG, as well as several of his fellow works council members witnessed the activities in the ADAC Volkswagen Polo Cup and the Seat Leon Supercopa with keen interest. In addition, the workers’ representatives kept their fingers crossed for the Audi DTM squad.

An unusual visitor stopped at the garage of Audi factory driver Timo Scheider: the life-size furry figure of Theo Tintenklecks. The mascot of the Middle German radio and TV network MDR, which is particularly popular with children, was accompanied by Jan Fischer. For the handicapped boy from Brandenburg, the visit to the DTM and the personal encounter with Timo Scheider, which had been suggested by the "Blue Hearts for Kindness to Children", made a cherished wish come true.

The "Audi Drive Away" involving Audi dealer organizations with an affinity for motorsport was held at Oschersleben as well. The sales regions North and East used the DTM race weekend as an action-packed setting to hand over 18 Audi TT and 19 Audi A3 Cabriolet vehicles to their dealerships. The highlight of the activity was a drive along the race track with the cars.
