After a five-week summer break the Audi DTM drivers caught up on each other’s news at Brands Hatch, and the race weekend in the British Isles added a number of interesting new experiences as well. Among other things, the Audi factory drivers were treated to a meal prepared by TV chef Sarah Wiener, who had travelled to the tradition-steeped circuit on the outskirts of London together with actor Peter Lohmeyer.
 
Light, easily digestible, tasty and loaded with energy – these are the attributes of perfect nutrition for athletes. The popular TV chef Sarah Wiener showed Audi drivers Mattias Ekström, Mike Rockenfeller and Markus Winkelhock how to easily prepare a delicious fitness meal and what it should consist of. In return, Sarah Wiener and actor Peter Lohmeyer ("Das Wunder von Bern"), who had travelled to Brands Hatch with her, got a taste of a totally different kind of experience: both were treated to a high-speed ride in the Audi A4 DTM racing taxi and afterwards – totally unusual for them – were speechless. After the race, Peter Lohmeyer will be given the chance to hand over a trophy at the podium ceremony.
 
The Audi drivers spent their five-week DTM break in August in very different ways. Oliver Jarvis regularly trained in a fitness studio. Mike Rockenfeller, as well, spent most of his time doing sports – at his new home near Lake Constance. Alexandre Prémat spent a few days on the Ile de Ré on the French Atlantic coast. Together, Prémat and Rockenfeller contested the fourth round of the Le Mans Series at the Nürburgring, again clinching a podium position with the Audi R10 TDI.
Timo Scheider took part in two races for small mopeds. In addition – like a number of other prominent personalities including four Olympic winners – he contested the "Race for Kids" kart race supporting the "Hour of the Heart" campaign. Also in Scheider’s victorious kart team was Daniel Abt, the son of Scheider’s DTM team director Hans-Jürgen Abt. Markus Winkelhock participated in the karting event as well. During the remainder of his holiday Winkelkock stayed in shape cycling and running in his native Swabia.
Martin Tomczyk recuperated in Majorca, attended the 1000-kilometre race at the Nürburgring and – at the wheel of a Race Tourareg at the Red Bull X Fighters show event – competed against moto-cross driver Sebastian "Busty" Wolters. Mattias Ekström primarily used the month of August for relaxation. He played tennis, went jogging a lot and, for the first time in his life, tried kite surfing on the Swedish West Coast. Tom Kristensen contested the Copenhagen Historic Grand Prix and, together with his team-mates, won a 12-hour cross-country race near Silkeborg in Denmark. Katherine Legge flew to Road America to witness the ALMS round as a spectator and did a lot of sports. Christijan Albers did not suffer from boredom either. The Dutchman visited his team, Futurecom-TME, in Greding, attended a rally cross run in Valkenswaard for his sponsors, experienced the festival week of the Dutch community of Laren, where he grew up, and completed a number of jogging training units in Monaco, where he lives now.
 
Tom Kristensen was repeatedly seen sitting in front of his laptop computer at Brands Hatch: the DTM driver used every free moment to work on a speech he will be delivering to the Danish national football team on Monday after the race – to motivate them for the upcoming World Championship qualification. The content of his talk: the road of the eight-time Le Mans winner to the pinnacle of motorsport.
 
Like daughter, like mother. Vivienne Legge, the mother of Audi factory driver Katherine Legge, went out on the track in a DTM car at Brands Hatch. Unlike her daughter, though, the British lady did not take the wheel herself but was chauffeured round the circuit in a racing taxi by former Formula 1 driver Nicolas Kiesa.
 
A delegation of the DTM’s exclusive tyre partner headed by Jean-Jacques Wiroth, Managing Director of Dunlop GmbH & Co. KG, engaged in a professional exchange with Audi driver Martin Tomczyk about the interaction between the racing car and the "black gold" at the driver’s garage prior to the race on Sunday.
 
Among many guests in the Audi Lounge, there were also 200 invited people of Audi Great Britain . They took advantage of the British DTM round for a live experience of the ten Audi A4 DTM cars and their drivers. In addition, the two local heroes Katherine Legge and Oliver Jarvis as well as Head of Audi Motorsport DR Wolfgang Ullrich and other drivers were on hand to answer questions at the Audi Lounge.
 
A reunion took place at the garage of Audi Sport Team Phoenix. Jonathan Williams, the son of Formula 1 team boss Frank Williams, used the DTM round in England to say hello to his old friends Ernst Moser (team director) and Frank Lynn (team manager). The group had worked together closely in a former ITC touring car project. Williams, who is very active in the area of junior sports, also knows Audi factory driver Oliver Jarvis very well, who competes for Audi Sport Team Phoenix.
