Top Japanese Vip backs Vulcan Project

The Vulcan restoration project has received a boost after a top Japanese VIP inspected the ’plane and gave his blessing to the campaign.
Mr Ikuo Mori, President and Chief Executive Officer of Fuji Heavy Industries Ltd inspected the Avro Vulcan XH558 Bomber at the 2008 Farnborough Air Show.
An engineering enthusiast, Mr Mori is also Chairman of the Society of Japanese Aerospace Companies.
FHI – the manufacturer of Subaru cars - also makes centre wings and other components for Boeing and other aircraft manufacturers. Subaru (UK) Limited has already loaned the Vulcan Operating Company three Outback models for use by its pilots and engineers.
Originally going into service in 1960, this is the only Vulcan still flying and represents the World’s biggest ‘return to flight’ project.
Funds allowing, the Vulcan will continue to delight enthusiasts with aeronautical displays for the next 10 years before being returned to the nation and placed in a suitable museum.
