'Shark fin' bodywork to appear in Hungary

01 agosto 2008

Three more teams are considering racing the so-called 'shark fin' engine cover concept in Hungary this weekend.

Red Bull pioneered the aerodynamic concept this year, and it was subsequently adopted for grands prix by sister team Toro Rosso as well as Renault and Force India.

In the Hungaroring paddock on Thursday, versions of the bodywork could be seen in the team areas for Toyota, Honda and Ferrari, who have all recently tested with the anvil-shaped concept.

"I may have it on (the car) tomorrow," Toyota driver Timo Glock said in Budapest on Thursday.

McLaren has also tested the shark-fin concept but currently has no plans to use the engine cover at a grand prix.

"I feel we didn't really feel a difference, so that's why we haven't run it since then," explained Finnish driver Heikki Kovalainen.

World champion Kimi Raikkonen said Ferrari plans to run with the engine cover in Hungary.

"I think we will probably run it tomorrow and see how it is," said the Finn, whose teammate Felipe Massa tried the innovation at the recent Jerez test.
