Valencia: stewards fine Alonso 10,000 euros

23 agosto 2008

Fernando Alonso on Friday was fined 10,000 euros by the stewards at Valencia.

Following the opening day of practice at the new urban circuit, the FIA representatives reprimanded the Spanish driver for cutting across the pitlane entry as he made his way back to the pits during the afternoon session.

The local EFE news agency said the Renault driver's actions was a breach of Article 4 of the FIA Sporting Code.

Stewards also fined Red Bull's David Coulthard, for exceeding the pitlane speed limit. The Scot must pay the FIA 2200 euros.
