Mecachrome denies F1 quit reports

23 agosto 2008

Motor sport engineering company Mecachrome on Friday denied it is withdrawing from formula one.

Reports last week said that with Renault deciding to supply all its own engine components, Mecachrome will instead move its focus to a programme for Le Mans.

But in a statement issued on Friday, Mecachrome France said being involved in F1 is to "remain one of the company's key activities".

It said the F1 partnership with Renault will continue.

"The agreement entered into by these two companies continues to run its course and Mecachrome is, at present, actively cooperating in the development of these high-performance components for Renault," the statement said.
