Anthony Davidson turns to Indy to restart career

04 settembre 2008

While Takuma Sato looks to resurrect his F1 career with Toro Rosso, fellow Super Aguri refugee Anthony Davidson may have to cross the Atlantic for his own return to a premier motor racing cockpit.

The 29-year-old Briton was a guest last weekend of the Indycar team Panther Racing, as the American series raced at Belle Isle in Detroit -- an event won by the former Minardi and Jaguar driver Justin Wilson, who is also English.

It has emerged that Davidson was scheduled to test for the team, which is reportedly looking for funding to expand to two cars, two weeks ago, only to injure his shoulder in a mountain bike incident.

Davidson's potential shot at Indycar may have been aided by his connections with Honda, for whom he tested for several years in F1 before racing with Honda power at the satellite team Aguri.

Commentating for British radio, he was in the paddock at Valencia for the recent European grand prix, admitting that while he wants to return to the grid, "I would accept a place as a test driver".
