Monza: engine change but no penalty for Webber

12 settembre 2008

Red Bull will install a new Renault engine in the rear of Mark Webber's RB4 for the official Italian GP action on Saturday, a spokesman for the Milton-Keynes based team confirmed on Friday.

The Australian will not however suffer a 10-place grid penalty, as it is the 31-year-old's first engine change of the season.

The team spokesman said the change is precautionary, given the arduous nature of the two-race cycle on power circuits Spa-Francorchamps and Monza.

Under current regulations, teams - with a clause nicknamed the 'engine joker' - are allowed to swap out one engine per season without penalty.

Webber scored one point for eighth place at last Sunday's Belgian grand prix.
