India faces GP delay until 2011

27 settembre 2008

Bernie Ecclestone on Friday admitted India is unlikely to join the formula one calendar in 2010.

A race in New Delhi was slated, but the F1 chief executive told reporters in Singapore that he has set a target of 2011 for the country's grand prix debut.

"These things take time," the 77-year-old F1 chief executive, when asked about India, said ahead of the first ever night practice in Singapore.

"Probably 2011 is what I want."

India's first F1 driver, Narain Karthikeyan, said last week that he also doubted the country could be ready to host a race in 2010.
