Japan next on Bernie Ecclestone's night race radar

27 settembre 2008

Trackside at F1's first night venue Singapore, F1 chief executive Bernie Ecclestone admitted he has set his sights on the next floodlit host.

"We're going to try to get Japan to do it," the 77-year-old billionaire said on Friday.

"It will be prime time in China and this part of the world and in Europe it will be at a sociable hour to watch rather than the middle of the night.

"I hope when people see this they realise it wasn't just a stupid idea," Ecclestone added.

However, he played down talk that the spectacle alone is strong enough to consider convincing European promoters to hold races at night.

"It's not cheap and I don't think there's much advantage," Ecclestone said.
