Robert Kubica agrees modified BMW ugly

19 novembre 2008

Robert Kubica agrees with his BMW-Sauber colleague Christian Klien about the dubious aesthetics of the 2009-style aerodynamic rules.

Klien, the Swiss based team's Austrian test driver, said at Barcelona this week that the modified F1.08 is the "worst formula one car I have ever seen".

Also referring to the 2008 car, whose rear and front wings now conform to the new regulations for next year, BMW race driver Kubica added: "We definitely all agree that the appearance of the cars is not really the best."

To the German broadcaster RTL, however, he highlights a positive in the fact that "I can now see much more out of the mirrors".

Opinions as to whether the 2009 rules will improve overtaking are mixed, but Klien believes the very wide front wings may complicate the jostle for position at the start of grands prix.

He said racers will have to be careful not to "knock off the front wing at the first corner".
