Valencia wants a grand prix - mayoress

07 dicembre 2006

The mayoress of Valencia has admitted that the third largest city in Spain would like to host a grand prix.

Rita Barbera Nolla is quoted by the Spanish news agency EFE as saying that a race could be staged on a revamped 'Ricard Tormo' circuit or on the streets of the city itself.

"Formula one attracts millions of spectators and thousands of visitors and would be a magnificent opportunity to continue the growth of the city of Valencia," she said.

F1 supremo Bernie Ecclestone has visited the port city several times, but said in October: "I cannot say if there will be a grand prix there.  We will see."
