Racing Engineering – GP2 Paul Ricard Tests

10 novembre 2008

The latest GP2 tests, to be held at Paul Ricard on the 11th and 12th of November, will see Spain’s Racing Engineering continue to test new drivers as they look forward to the 2009 season. The two day session will see all the GP2 teams at the French circuit which is always a popular venue for testing as the circuit can be used in both low and high speed configurations.

Racing Engineering will be testing three drivers as the Andalusia-based team continue their search for the best driver pairing for the 2009 season. For Day 1 it will be the Andreas Zuber and Sten Pentus behind the wheel of the GP2 Dallaras whilst Day 2 will see Sten Pentus out again and he will be joined by Dani Clos.

Andreas Zuber was seen in the Racing Engineering Dallara at the GP2 test held at Jerez at the end of last month when the experienced Dubai resident Austrian was an excellent 6th fastest on the first day. Andreas is spending the winter months racing in the GP2 Asia Series and he has also been competing in the Superleague Formula where he has been racing for the Al-Ain FC team.

Sten Pentus was born in Estonia and is one of an increasing number of Eastern European drivers who are making a name for themselves in world motorsport. Sten was the Formula Baltic Champion in 2000 and for the last two seasons he has been competing in the UK Formula Renault Championship. Sten already has driven a GP2 car during the last test in Jerez and has also competed in the World Series by Renault.

Dani Clos, who has just celebrated his 20th birthday, was born in Barcelona and, despite his youth, he has several years of motorsport experience. Dani, like so many modern drivers started his career in karts before spending two seasons racing in both the Italian and European Formula Renault Championship and in 2006 he was the Italian Formula Renault Champion. In 2007 Dani moved up to the Euro Formula 3 series finishing 12th and he has continued in the same series for 2008.
