Conquest Racing Indy 500 Fast Friday Notes

10 maggio 2008

The following is a series of notes following “Fast Friday” at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway for the running of the 92nd Indianapolis 500.

Jaime Back on Track:
Jaime Camara (#34 Sangari Dallara/Honda/Firestone) was happy to be back behind the wheel of his race car today. Following his crash on Monday, the Brazilian had not yet returned behind the wheel of the #34 Conquest machine. He was cleared to drive on Tuesday afternoon after meeting with Dr. Terry Trammell but rain cancelled practice on Wednesday and Thursday. Camara completed 28 laps in his first outing today while building his confidence back up behind the wheel. He was preparing to head back out when the rain started falling and cut his day short.

Enrique’s new car:
Enrique Bernoldi (#36 Sangari Dallara/Honda/Firestone) took his brand new Dallara for its first spin in today’s practice session in preparation for this weekend’s qualifying. The Brazilian only managed to put in eight laps before the rain came and put an end to the practice session.

Predictions anyone?
Some Conquest team members have made their predictions for the speed of tomorrow’s Peak Motor Oil Pole Award presented by AutoZone. Driver Jaime Camara says the four lap speed will in the high 225s while Team Manager Chris Mower is a little more precise with a 227.100. Conquest Team Owner Eric Bachelart predicts the pole speed will be 226.8 while Bernoldi’s race engineer Brandon Fry claims a 226.75 will top the charts.
