Sarah Fisher Racing Welcomes Bingham EST to Team

13 maggio 2008

Bingham EST and Sarah Fisher Racing (SFR) are proud to announce a partnership to promote the sole female owner/driver IndyCar Series team.  Sarah Fisher, a seven-year IndyCar Series veteran, announced earlier this year that she would compete in the 2008 IndyCar Series with a limited schedule and fulltime beginning in 2009.

“There are not many opportunities in this sport to be a part of history,” said Joe Champion of Bingham EST.  “This is an exciting time for open-wheel racing, for the Indianapolis 500, and for Sarah Fisher Racing, the first female driver/owner team in 30 years.  No one could ask for a better driver to promote.  We are thrilled to be helping Sarah and her team put together a successful 2008 and beyond.”

Fisher, who made her IndyCar Series debut in 1999 and her Indianapolis 500 debut in 2000, is making her seventh appearance at the famed Indianapolis Motor Speedway tying Lyn St. James for the most number of starts for a female should she qualify for this year’s race.  A rare woman in a man’s sport, Fisher’s trailblazing journey has produced several Indianapolis 500 records that still hold: youngest woman to compete (2000), fastest woman to qualify (229.439 four-lap avg., 2003), and most career earnings for a woman ($1,276,500).

Highlights of Fisher's IndyCar Series career include three-times voted the Most Popular Driver (2001, 2002, 2003), first woman with a podium finish (Third Place, 2000, Kentucky Speedway), first woman in North America to win the pole position (2002, Kentucky Speedway). She is one of the most sought-after athletes nationally and locally having stirred national news last week with hosting presidential hopeful Senator Hillary Clinton in her garage.

“I am excited to welcome Bingham EST to Sarah Fisher Racing,” said Sarah Fisher, owner/driver SFR. “So much of a team’s success depends on the generous support of sponsors, so I’m really looking forward to Bingham EST’s efforts. I believe they can help us find the right sponsors to have a successful first year.”

Fisher will drive the No. 67 Honda powered Dallara. Her current partners include AAA Hoosier Auto Insurance, TAG Heuer, ProLiance and Direct Supply.

"This is an historic season, with American open-wheel racing together again," said to John Cunningham, of Bingham EST. "We are excited to help Sarah and her new team build the SFR brand across the country and to spread the word about this remarkable woman's career in one of America's most popular sports."
