Practice begins at the Rexall Edmonton Indy for Dreyer & Reinbold Racing

25 luglio 2008

Dreyer & Reinbold Racing turned its first laps on Thursday at the Edmonton City Centre Airport Circuite in preparations for Saturday’s Rexall Edmonton Indy.

Drivers Buddy Rice and Townsend Bell tried to turn as many laps as they could around the circuit, but several full-course caution periods took away valuable time on the track.

KV Racing teammates Will Power and Oriol Servia topped the time charts.  Both have raced at the Edmonton circuit before.  They, along with five others that have raced on the circuit previously made up the top-ten.

Rice and Bell ended up 21st and 25th overall for the day, respectively.

They look to work with their respective teams overnight to analyze data, reflect on their driving sessions, and continue learning the course in preparations for the race.

Practice resumes on Friday at 12:30 p.m. EST.  Qualifying will be later that afternoon at 5:15 p.m. EST.  A warm-up session will take place on Saturday at 11:55 a.m. EST.  All of these sessions can be seen live via streaming video on indycar.com

The race itself can be seen live and in HD on Saturday at 5 p.m. EST.

QUOTES

#15 DREYER & REINBOLD RACING Honda Dallara Driver Buddy Rice

“I’m not where I want to be on the time sheet, obviously.  We still have a lot to learn about this track.  We’ve never seen this place before, and with all the yellows out there, it really limited our track time.  The Dreyer and Reinbold team has been working hard, and I’m sure we’ll come back out on Friday and put on a better performance for Roll Coater, William Rast, Honda, and all the other sponsors on the team.”

#23 WILLIAM RAST/DREYER & REINBOLD RACING Honda Dallara Driver Townsend Bell

“Today was definitely a learning experience for us.  Never mind the fact that I’ve never seen this track before, this is only my second non-oval event since 2003.  We definitely have the potential to move up the grid.  The Dreyer and Reinbold team has been doing a good job of preparing my green William Rast ‘scud,’ but we’ll just have to work a little bit harder to be ready for qualifying.”
