Dreyer & Reinbold Racing Rexall Edmonton Indy qualifying report

26 luglio 2008

Qualifying for this weekend’s Rexall Edmonton Indy took place on Friday afternoon, and when all was said and done, Dreyer & Reinbold Racing’s Buddy Rice and Townsend Bell found themselves 22nd and 24th, respectively, on the grid for Saturday’s race.

The afternoon was an intense one for the crew of Rice as a suspension failure in the morning practice session sent him into the retaining wall.  Though the damage was minimal, given the circumstances, the crew had to wait for the second practice group to finish their session before the safety crew would return the car to the team’s transporter in the paddock.

Once there, the Dreyer & Reinbold team quickly replaced the left front suspension assembly and the suspension blocks on the right front.

With the effort the team has put in so far this weekend, both crews feel optimistic that overnight changes will bring positive results for both Dreyer & Reinbold Racing machines come Saturday.

A warm-up session will take place tomorrow morning at 11:55 a.m. EST and can be viewed live on indycar.com.

The Rexall Edmonton Indy can be seen live and in HD on Saturday at 5 p.m. EST.

QUOTES

#15 DREYER & REINBOLD RACING Honda Dallara Driver Buddy Rice

“Since we’ve never been here to before, we’ve been using every session on-track as a test session.  We still haven’t shown the speed we wanted, but by the race, we should have it figured out.  We were in the same situation at Detroit last year where we just kept plugging away and got it right in the race.  Now that we have a better idea which direction to go in, we’re going to make some big changes to the car for the morning warm-up, and we should have a pretty good car come Saturday.”

#23 WILLIAM RAST/DREYER & REINBOLD RACING Honda Dallara Driver Townsend Bell

“The Rast car still has some speed left in it.  We just need to find it.  We’ve got one more quick practice on Saturday morning to figure things out.  The guys are working hard, and I’m working hard.  This William Rast team is good, and we’ll hopefully show that come race time.”
