Dreyer & Reinbold Racing previews Detroit Indy Grand Prix presented by Firestone

29 agosto 2008

After a very quick turn around from a trip out west to Sonoma, California, Dreyer & Reinbold Racing, with drivers Buddy Rice and Milka Duno, have arrived today in Detroit for this weekend’s Detroit Indy Grand Prix Presented by Firestone at the Raceway at Belle Isle.

The 2008 edition of this event is the second time the IndyCar Series has visited the facility.  Last year’s race was one of the highlights of Dreyer & Reinbold Racing as Rice led for several laps and spent most of the day running amongst the leaders.  He and the team look to carry that run over to this year and hope to capitalize on an opportunity for a solid result up front.

He’ll be joined by Duno who returns to the cockpit after a race off.  This will be just her third start on a road course in an IndyCar Series machine and first on a street circuit.  Her best result in the previous two road races was 20th in Watkins Glen.  She and the team will focus on getting her more Seat time on the road course tracks and improving her technique while continuing her learning process.

Practice begins on Friday at 10:50 a.m. for 90 minutes.  A second, one-hour session will be later that afternoon at 2.  The third practice will be on Saturday morning at 8:30 with two groups having 30-minutes each.  Qualifying will be at 11:30 a.m.  All times listed are in ET, and all sessions can be seen live via streaming video on indycar.com.

The race can be seen live in HD on August 31st at 3:30 p.m. ET on ABC.

QUOTES

#15 DREYER & REINBOLD RACING Honda Dallara Driver Buddy Rice

"Last year, we had a good race here.  We just need to capitalize earlier on that this year.  We should have a good weekend.  We just need to qualify better.  It’s going to be a lot more competitive this year.  Obviously, we were running well late in last year’s race before our issues started happening.  We were having a solid top-five run, and I think we should be able to do that here this year.  We showed we were quick in the race, but the competition is a lot stiffer.  Hopefully, we’ll be more competitive from the start.”

#23 CITGO/DREYER & REINBOLD RACING Honda Dallara Driver Milka Duno

“Following a two-week break, I’m ready for the on-track action and upcoming weekend in the Motor City.  This final road course will prove to be challenging, and I’m excited to rejoin my Dreyer and Reinbold team to conclude the summer with a good result at the Detroit Belle Isle Grand Prix.”
