Dreyer & Reinbold Racing driver Buddy Rice to race in Grand-Am for season

20 settembre 2008

Buddy Rice started the 2008 regular season driving a Daytona Prototype for Brumos Racing in Daytona, and after completing the 17-race IndyCar Series schedule with Dreyer & Reinbold Racing, he'll finish off the regular season this weekend driving for Brumos again in the finale of the Rolex Sports Car Series presented by Crown Royal Cask No. 16.

He'll be joining team regulars Darren Law and David Donohue in sharing the #58 Brumos Porsche Riley for Saturday's SunRichGourmet.com 1000.

This is the third year where Rice has participated in the Rolex Series bookends.  In six events, five have been with Brumos Racing.

Rice is coming off a season of driving in the IndyCar Series with Dreyer & Reinbold Racing where he earned six top-ten finishes in 17 starts, including a season-best of fourth at the Watkins Glen International Raceway.  He also gave the team its best finish ever in the Indianapolis 500 with an eighth-place result.  His run that day was extra special for the team as Rice led Dreyer & Reinbold Racing's first laps in the famed event.

Rice, Law, and Donohue will take part in practice and qualifying on Friday, with the race itself on Saturday.

The SunRichGourmet.com 1000 from the Miller Motorsports Park outside of Salt Lake City can be seen live on SPEED Channel on Saturday beginning at 1 p.m. ET.

Rice will return to the cockpit of an IndyCar Series machine for Dreyer & Reinbold Racing later this month to take part in a test at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway.  That will be followed next month with an exhibition race on the Streets of Surfer's Paradise, Australia.  That event will take place on October 26th with live coverage in the U.S. on ESPN Classic on October 25th at 10:30 p.m. ET.

QUOTES

#15 Dreyer & Reinbold Racing Honda Dallara Driver Buddy Rice
"I'm looking forward to getting back into the #58 Brumos Porsche and working with the guys on the team.  I enjoy coming to these events when I have the time, and it's always great to get to work with Darren (Law) and David (Donohue).  This is the fifth time in the last three years that I've run with them.  The IndyCar Series schedule was really busy this year, but I'm already ready to jump back into the Seat and go racing again.  The off-season is really long, so to be able to do this event and the 24-hours at Daytona with these guys helps to break that down a little bit.  I'm excited about getting into the Dreyer and Reinbold Honda IndyCar in the upcoming test at Indy and the exhibition in Australia, but for this weekend, I'm hoping to help the Brumos guys end their season well with a solid finish in Salt Lake City."
