Marcos Ambrose has made a steady start in practice for the Pepsi 300 at Nashville Superspeedway in Lebanon, Tennessee today.

Ambrose was 28th fastest in opening practice in the #59 Kingsford Hickory Ford Fusion, followed by 25th fastest in final practice.

The Australian is confident that he and his JTG Racing crew are not far from cracking the top 10 in terms of pace. Nashville is a track that has been a strong one for Ambrose in the past, with the 31-year-old qualifying in the top five in both Nationwide races in Nashville last year as well as posting a second place finish in Nashville in the 2006 NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series.

Kyle Busch was fastest in final practice for the Pepsi 300 today ahead of Mike Bliss and Clint Bowyer.

Qualifying and the 225-lap Pepsi 300 will be held tomorrow, the sixth event in the 2008 NASCAR Nationwide Series.

“We had a solid Kingsford car in practice but we’ve still got some improvement in it,” said Ambrose.

“We’ve started with a good, solid package, but there is still room for some changes. I’m confident we can fine tune it overnight because we are not far off at all.

“We’re really pushing hard for a good run here at Nashville. I think we’ve got something for them out there, so we’ll see what we can get out of it tomorrow.”
