Scott Lagasse set to tackle Martinsville

Scott Lagasse Jr is set to tackle the Kroger 250 at the rugged Martinsville Speedway in Martinsville, Virginia in the four event of the 2008 NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series this weekend.

The 27-year-old will pilot the #20 Nicholson Group Ford F-150 in the 250-lap event around the tight and demanding half-mile speedway, where tight racing and panel damage is virtually guaranteed.

Lagasse had a solid test a Martinsville earlier this month on March 12-13, ending the test with the 17th fastest time in the final session.

Progress and information from that test will help Lagasse and his JTG Racing crew tune their F-150 for the Kroger 250, with the top 20 in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series in sight with a solid finish.

“Martinsville is always a tough race in the Truck Series but I am really looking forward to it,” said Lagasse.

“We had a solid test at Martinsville recently and it gave us the opportunity to sort the truck in advance of the race weekend and try some things.

“When we roll out for practice we would have already tried some things at the test, so we will just have to get on top of the conditions and see where we are at.

“It’s a tight track but it’s always a blast to run here. Sometimes at Martinsville you can do nothing wrong and get in a wreck because it happens right in front of you. But we will certainly try our best to keep out of trouble, especially in the first half of the race.

“I think we are ready to make some progress and the team is working well together. We will certainly be giving it everything we’ve got this weekend.”
