Monte Carlo Rally: Aigner-Wicha retire with mechanical failure to the drive shaft at the start of SS 9

21 gennaio 2007

The Red Bull Rallye Team of Andreas Aigner (AUT)/Klaus Wicha (GER) – Mitsubishi Lancer EVO IX – had to retire early today at the start of SS 9 because of a broken drive shaft.

This is just the more regrettable since the young Austrian felt very comfortable in the Maritime Alps and had driven a consistent and flawless rally apart from the tyre failure on SS 3.

BRR team boss Raimund Baumschlager: “First we need to analyse what exactly caused this retirement. It’s a real shame in any case since we could have used each and every kilometre as a test for the Swedish Rally.”
