Rallycross champions get ready to rumble at London Masters

04 dicembre 2007

Championship drivers from International Rallying, rallycross and minicross are getting ready to rumble in what promises to be an exciting weekend of motorsport, right in the heart of London’s Docklands.

Last minute preparations are being made to the exciting 650 metre rallycross circuit within the grounds of ExCeL for the first London Masters, part of the London Motorsport Show which takes place on Saturday 8th and Sunday 9th December.

100 drivers are competing including World Rally Championship round winner Per Eklund from Sweden, British Rallycross Champion Ollie Donovan, Open Rallycross Champion ‘Mad’ Mark Watson and Shelley Wakeling, the 2007 Mini-cross Champion.

The lap time for a Division 1 car is expected to be between 30 and 35 seconds with an average speed of approximately 80mph. The circuit has been constructed with fast flowing corners, featuring two spectacular yumps. With Division 1, Super National, Procar 1600 and 2000, Revivals, Junior Rallycross and Minicross categories, visitors will be on the edge of their seats watching the exhilarating live action.

And thrill seekers will get to see the drivers tested to the limit as they manoeuvre around the circuit under dramatic floodlights on the Saturday evening as racing will take place until 8pm. The finals take place on Sunday with the prize giving taking place at 4pm within the London Motorsport Show.

The circuit was created by the PSM Motorsport Ltd circuit construction team and London Motorsport Show organisers Starting Grid Ltd in association with Shannon Holdings. The show is also supported by London Mazda, GKSA and Tesco 99 Octane.

The London Masters is just one of the exciting features of the 2007 London Motorsport Show which covers all disciplines of motorsport from Karting through to Formula One and is a must for any motor racing enthusiast.  With an ‘arrive and drive’ indoor kart track and outdoor ‘hot rides’ in Caterhams and Legends cars, visitors can take to the track and see how they to compare to the champions. Features include the Future of Motorsport, Girls in Motorsport and Historic Motorsport Zones as well as a seminar theatre with workshops on karting, racing cars, mechanics and media.

Doors open each day from 10am and the show closes at 6.30pm on Saturday with the rallycross event finishing at around 8pm and 3.30pm on Sunday. For information and to book tickets, visit www.londonmasters.co.uk.
