Many unique exhibits from the near 75-year history of the 24 Hour race in Le Mans can be admired in the Audi museum mobile in Ingolstadt.
All the Le Mans winning cars from Audi can be seen assembled for the first time ever at the exhibition in the museum until 17 June 2007 – the day this year’s 24 Hour race finishes.
From the first Audi R8 that won the endurance classic in 2000, the further developed versions incorporating TFSI Technology, through to the revolutionary R10 TDI with which Audi wrote history last year after becoming the first Le Mans winner to use Diesel power, are on show.
Rupert Stadler, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Audi AG, invited all the drivers to have won for Audi in Le Mans to the exhibition opening.
Audi "factory” driver Tom Kristensen (seven wins) and Jacky Ickx (six wins), the two most successful drivers in Le Mans history, gave guests a look behind the scenes of the endurance classic.
