Le Mans Series: Timpany ready for return to action at Nurburgring

English racing driver Allen Timpany is looking forward to a busy few days at the Nurburgring this weekend, fresh from his sensational class-win at the Le Mans 24 Hours.

Timpany who, alongside co-drivers Bill Binnie and Chris Buncombe, won the LMP2 category at Le Mans just two weeks ago by a massive margin of 16-laps, returns to Le Mans Series action with Binnie Motorsports and will also contest the Classic Endurance Racing championship and the Radical World Cup at the German circuit.

Once again lining up alongside Binnie and Buncombe in their Lola B05/40 Zytek, the trio will be hoping to build on their victory at La Sarthe and bounce back in the Le Mans Series championship following an engine related DNF at the last round in Valencia.

The Saulnier Racing trio of Alain Filhol, Bruce Jouanny and Jacques Nicolet currently top the LMP2 championship table with 13 points and whilst the Binnie Motorsports drivers are down in  sixth position heading into round 3, they are only seven points behind with four rounds to go.

"We're at an important stage of the championship now," Timpany admitted. "Having said that though I don't want to put ourselves under any pressure because really we are all here to enjoy ourselves. I like the Nurburgring and we had a good result here last year, finishing second and we also finished the race in 2005. That makes me fairly optimistic for the weekend.

"The team are also running a softer, better constructed Kumho tyre which are working well. In practise Chris (Buncombe) was doing 1:49s, which has been good enough for around third place, and Bill and I have been in the 1:52s which is around three seconds quicker than we were last year. So really it's so far so good."
