Robin Brundle join Aston Martin Racing as managing director

22 novembre 2007

This is a new role within Prodrive, which runs Aston Martin Racing in partnership with Aston Martin.

Brundle will oversee all commercial and operational aspects of Aston Martin Racing’s global motorsport activities, including its customer team sales and support operations, working with George Howard-Chappell who continues in his role of race team principal and technical director.

Brundle will report directly to Prodrive chairman and chief executive, David Richards.  Richards said: “I am delighted to welcome Robin to Aston Martin Racing at a time of immense opportunity.  Motorsport has already delivered significant benefits for Aston Martin and our team partners, but it has the potential to add even greater value as we expand into new markets and introduce new models.  Robin’s combined automotive and motorsport experience, together with his proven leadership abilities, is perfect for taking Aston Martin Racing to the next level.”

Brundle was managing director of the multi-franchise vehicle retail business, John Brundle Motors Limited, for 23 years until the business was sold earlier this year.
Brundle said: “Having successfully grown and sold an automotive retail business and been involved in motorsport in one form or another for much of my life, this position is the perfect fit for me.  I have watched Aston Martin Racing from afar and have admired the level of success the team has achieved in a remarkably short period of time.  I now intend to make my own contribution to both the team and sports car racing in general by working closely with our business partners, our customers and the governing bodies.  I look forward to working with David, George and the rest of this highly successful team.”
