Formula Master: Fabio Leimer german testing session

28 agosto 2008

Jenzer Motorsport's Fabio Leimer topped the timesheet in today's official Formula Master testing session in Oschersleben, Germany, posting a best time of 1:21.323.

Completing 101 laps throughout the day, the Swiss was once again fastest in testing, following strong performances during tests in Estoril, Magny-Cours and Valencia.

"I hadn't been to Oscherlseben in two years so it's good to get to know the track in positive circumstances like today," said Leimer. "It's my first time in a Formula Master car here so the first part of the morning was spent on learning the track but after that we were able to push.

"We have a good set-up for the car and things look promising for the race weekend but Friday's free practices could see the usual front-runners like van der Drift improve their times. Hopefully the weather will stay bright and we can be at the front."

ISR's Tim Sandtler followed closely, posting his best time of 1:32.565 in the morning session, whilst Sergey Afanasiev set the day's third fastest time for JD Motorsport. Afanasiev's best lap of 1:21.649, set this afternoon, completes the top three times, which were all set by rookies.

Title-contenders Chris van der Drift and Michael Ammermüller were closely matched, posting the fourth and fifth best times respectively, just 0.205 seconds apart.

Today's testing session also marked team AR Motorsport's debut in the Series. The Dutch outfit completed 61 laps with driver Kelvin Snoeks, improving their times significantly throughout the day.

Formula Master's race meeting in Oschersleben will continue Friday with two free practice sessions and qualifying, followed by race one on Saturday and race two on Sunday.

Eurosport's coverage for Formula Master's race weekend in Germany will begin Saturday 30 August with race one shown live at 12:15 (CET) on Eurosport International and Asia Pacific. Sunday's race two will be broadcast live on Eurosport 2 and Asia Pacific at 14:00 (CET).
